What Is the Most Effective Method to Market to High-Income Customers?
It is the entrepreneur’s dream—finding a rich market and then becoming popular there so that their profits are increased manifold. It may be the same product and the same business pattern, but when you are marketing to a high-income group, there are definite benefits. You get more sales and probably even a better price for your products and you don’t have to market too much because high-income groups won’t think much about spending on a product that they halfway think will be useful to them. Also, you save on promotional offers such as low prices and discounts because high-income groups won’t care for them.
And thereby hangs a tale; a tale that tells you how you can effectively market to high-income customers.
Bear one thing in mind. High-income groups are motivated by just one thing in all the products that they buy—high quality. They will pay more, but then they will expect the product to have superior quality and do exactly what it promises to do. This is one thing you have to ensure. If you are investing a little more in the technology and materials needed to churn out a superior product, you are probably targeting a high-income group already.
There is one more thing that customers from high-income groups will want to have in the products that they buy—great service. You have to ensure that the product is completely functional when it passes on to the hands of these customers, and if there is an installation involved, you have to provide for that. High-income groups have a lot of money and they would like to buy their convenience as well. Now, you will only tick if you are able to sell that convenience to them. And that includes great customer support whenever they need them. Even thinking of a 24/7 customer support plan is a very good idea.
If you are targeting high-income groups exclusively, you have to be careful about where you promote your products. Target places where these high-income groups are usually found, such as malls and multiplexes and cafes and places like that. You could also try to get an email or an address list of these people and send them some meaningful and helpful correspondence directly. But, never cold call! This is one thing high-income groups absolutely detest. Most of them have the words “Not interested, thank you” by default on the tips of their tongues.
Follow-up strategies need to be implemented as well. This helps you in various ways. You could upsell more products to them, such as credit card sellers are always trying to peddle other things such as holiday plans, etc. to their customers, and also you get a good name for your promptness and service which they will be only too happy to recommend to their other high-income friends.
